Our Essence

  • Community Lifestyle Education, Agriculture, and Nutrition (CLEAN) exists to improve health outcomes, economic stability, and community resilience by integrating regenerative agriculture, culturally grounded education, and holistic wellness initiatives.
Through land stewardship, workforce development, and evidence-informed lifestyle education, CLEAN empowers individuals and communities—particularly those disproportionately impacted by food insecurity, chronic disease, land inequity, and economic disinvestment—to reclaim agency over their health, food systems, and local economies.

  • CLEAN envisions communities that are food & land-secure, metabolically healthy, economically self-determined, and environmentally regenerative.
We see a future where urban agriculture functions as critical infrastructure; where wellness education is preventative rather than reactive; and where community-owned, value-added enterprises circulate wealth locally while restoring both land and people.

  • At CLEAN, our work is guided by the following core values:

    Community Agency

We believe communities thrive when individuals possess the knowledge, skills, and confidence to exercise agency over their health, livelihoods, and lived environments. We prioritize education and capacity-building that enable self-determined, sustainable lifestyles.

    Holistic Well-Being

We recognize well-being as multi-dimensional—physical, emotional, economic, and environmental. Our approach affirms that lasting health is cultivated through informed lifestyle practices, access to nourishing food and land-management systems, and supportive community infrastructure.

    Respect for Local Assets

We honor and leverage the existing strengths, talents, and resources within the communities we serve. Rather than imposing solutions, we build upon local knowledge, cultural wisdom, and place-based assets to drive meaningful change.

    Connection and Collective Resilience

We value relationships as a foundation for resilience. By fostering authentic connections among individuals, families, and institutions, we strengthen collective capacity to adapt, respond, and flourish amid social, economic, and environmental challenges.

    Stewardship and Regeneration

We are committed to responsible stewardship of ecosystems and community resources. Our work advances regenerative practices that restore land, protect environmental health, and ensure that future generations inherit vibrant, life-supporting environments.

    Shared Flourishing

We believe equity is realized when systems are designed for shared benefit when at all possible. Our values affirm that everyone can foster opportunities to thrive within healthy, resilient communities that support dignity, purpose, and long-term sustainability.

Our Team

  • Basu Tenisio Seanima (Executive Director)

  • Dr. Ruby Swift Seanima (Operations Director)

  • Interns

CLEAN’s internships are designed to produce concrete, resume-ready experience and demonstrable professional skills. Interns gain hands-on exposure to project coordination, community outreach, data collection, content development, and program implementation across agriculture, health, and education initiatives. Participants leave with documented competencies, real project outcomes, and applied experience suitable for resumes, portfolios, graduate programs, and LinkedIn profiles—while contributing meaningfully to community-centered, systems-level work.

  • Voluneers

CLEAN welcomes volunteers who want to contribute time, skills, and energy toward building healthier, more resilient communities. Volunteers support hands-on projects and community initiatives across food systems, wellness programming, landscape stewardship, and cooperative development. Whether assisting in the field, supporting events, or contributing professional expertise, volunteers play a vital role in advancing community-driven solutions and shared impact.
